Best MagSafe Chargers: Our Top Picks for 2022

By April 2021, Apple sold over 100 million iPhone 12s. The iPhone 12 series was a jump for Apple – it came with a fresh flat-edged design and powerful new chips. They also introduced the very popular new iPhone 12 mini. All this drove up sales, making Apple iPhones even more sought after.

But one other thing made the iPhone 12 so popular: MagSafe.

MagSafe has become Apple’s new charging standard for their iPhones, and now there are several MagSafe chargers to choose from.

But what is MagSafe? Is it just another gimmick to spend even more money at the Apple Store? What about MagSafe accessories?

Keep reading to find out all you need to know about MagSafe and the best MagSafe chargers that you can buy.

What is MagSafe?

If you’re an OG Apple fan, MagSafe won’t sound like a new, foreign concept. The name was used for Apple’s older MacBook chargers. But, thanks to the iPhone, it’s making a comeback across Apple’s lineup of devices, including their phones and new MacBooks.

There is a slight difference between the MagSafe chargers for different devices though. The MagSafe for Apple’s laptops uses magnets to secure the charger in place. They’re also designed to easily snap on and off, making it quick and easy to connect the charger. The major benefit of this Snap-on-and-off system is that the charger pops out of the port if pulled or yanked by accident. This stops your laptop from sliding off your desk by accident.

iPhone MagSafe chargers, on the other hand, use wireless technology to charge your phone. It still uses magnets, though, so your phone is always properly placed on the wireless charger. Thanks to these magnets, you still get that satisfying ‘MagSafe click’ sound when the phone and charger meet.

MagSafe has become Apple’s new wireless charging standard. But that’s not the only reason to get excited about this new feature. MagSafe could possibly lead to Apple finally releasing a port-less iPhone.

For now, though, we’ll focus on the immediate benefits that MagSafe gives us. Like faster charging speeds. MagSafe increases the wattage output of wireless charging from 7.5w to 15w. This fast-charging capability is in line with the majority of other brands.

Thanks to this, your iPhone can charge to 50% in about 30 minutes. You’ll only be able to get these wonderful charge times with Apple-approved MagSafe chargers.

But don’t worry – there are some great ones out there. Let’s find out which ones we think are the best.

Best MagSafe Chargers

When it comes to choosing the right MagSafe charger for you, it can be a challenge. Now that it has become Apple’s new standard, there are so many to choose from. But some MagSafe chargers are better than others. As mentioned, only a handful of third-party brands are approved by Apple and thus support fast charging at 15w.

If you’re not too concerned about that, then you’ve got plenty to choose from. Below are our top picks of iPhone MagSafe chargers.

Simple

The first category is all about ‘simple’ chargers. These aren’t ‘simple’ in the negative sense. No. These chargers are sleek and slim-line, perfect for one device or those wanting a plain, minimalistic look on their desk or bedside table.

Apple

The top pick is of course the Apple MagSafe Charger.

If you want to ensure that you get all the fast-charge capabilities that MagSafe has to offer, your best bet is to go with an Apple charger. It’s not that expensive and it’ll fit right into your ecosystem.

The Apple MagSafe charger is sleek and thin, allowing you to easily take it on the go with you. But it also has a lovely 3.3-foot-long cable, which makes placing it on a table nice and easy.

You can also maximize the charge times by buying an Apple 20W power brick for the MagSafe charger to plug into.

The Apple MagSafe charger is also great if you have multiple MagSafe devices. It can charge all AirPods with MagSafe compatible cases and iPhones as old as the iPhone 11.

The key features of the Apple MagSafe Charger are:

  • • MagSafe certified
  • • 15w Fast-Charge Capable
  • • White

Anker Power Wave Magnetic Pad

Another simple, single-device MagSafe charger is the Anker Power Wave Magnetic Pad. It looks quite similar to the Apple charger, but it’s not officially certified by Apple.

This means that it only supports a charge output of 7.5w. But if you’re not too concerned about fast charge, then this charger may be perfect for you. It’s also one of the most affordable MagSafe chargers out there, which makes this a great MagSafe contender.

While there are no fancy features, here’s a breakdown of this MagSafe charger:

  • • White
  • • NOT fast-charge capable and NOT Apple Certified
  • • 5 ft cable

Moko Armor

The Moko Amor is another third-party product that won’t break the bank. While it’s not MagSafe certified, it still works with your MagSafe iPhones. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support fast-charge, charging at 7.5w.

But the Moko has a small but handy feature – it comes with a kickstand.

Most simple MagSafe chargers and wireless chargers lay flat on a surface. The kickstand allows you to charge your phone while watching a movie or YouTube video, all hands-free.

One of the biggest downfalls of this charger is that it doesn’t come with a charging brick. You’ll have to buy that separately.

Belkin Boost Up Pro

Belkin Boost Up Pro

Belkin is one of the few third-party brands that Apple endorses. Because of this, Belkin’s MagSafe chargers are MagSafe certified, so they support fast charging.

But that’s not the only reason to go for this MagSafe charger.  The Belkin Boost Up Pro also comes with a handy kickstand and a super long cable. It’s longer than the Apple MagSafe charger, measuring about 6.6ft.

The Belkin also comes in two colors, so you can pick which one will suit you best. You can buy this MagSafe charger with an included 27W power brick. But if you’ve already got a brick at home, you can also buy the charger on its own.

A breakdown of the features:

  • • It’s MagSafe certified
  • • Fast-Charge capable at 15W
  • • Long Cable
  • • Kickstand for verticality
  • • Comes in Black or White

Multi-Device

If you’re entrenched in the Apple Ecosystem, chances are you’ve got more than one Apple device that’ll need charging. If this is the case, a simple, single-device charger isn’t going to hack it.

Luckily, several MagSafe chargers can charge more than one device.

Apple MagSafe Duo

One can’t make a list of the best MagSafe chargers without mentioning the Apple MagSafe Duo. This is the perfect charger for those who have an Apple Watch and a MagSafe compatible iPhone.

It’s got a dedicated spot for both devices and it can fold in half. This makes it a great travel charger for your devices.

It’s not exactly Apple’s much anticipated charging mat, AirPower, but it’s close enough.

When paired with a 20W power brick, you’ll get those lightning-fast charges that MagSafe allows. The major benefit with this is that your Apple Watch will also now charge just as quickly (for fast charge Apple Watches only).

Features:

  • • Travel size
  • • 15W
  • • MagSafe certified
  • • Comes in white

Belkin Boost 2-in-1

For a slightly cheaper option, the Belkin Boost 2-in-1 Charger stand might be the one for you. While it won’t charge your Apple Watch, it does have a dedicated spot for your AirPods.

And because it's Belkin, this is a MagSafe certified charger, so you can take advantage of the awesome 15W charging speeds. Don’t worry, though, your AirPods won’t overheat. The charging pad at the base only charges at 5W, so they’ll be nice and safe.

The biggest perk of this MagSafe charger is that it doubles as a stand. When placed on the charger, you can have your phone in portrait or landscape – whichever you fancy. Because the MagSafe magnetics are super sturdy, you never have to worry about your phone falling off the charger.

Some notable features of this charger are:

  • • MagSafe certified
  • • 15W Fast-charge capable
  • • Comes with a 40W power adapter (AC)
  • • Colors: Black or White

    Nomad base station

If you’re looking for a true AirPower replacement, then the Nomad base station is the MagSafe charger for you. The updated version is now MagSafe compatible and to top it off, Nomad is an Apple-endorsed brand.

It’s a big, flat pad that can wirelessly charge two devices. It’s also got a handy USB port to charge another device. If you’re willing to splurge a little more, you can also buy an attachable Apple Watch charging puck, so all your devices will be covered.

While it’s on the pricey side, this charger won’t disappoint. While it may look plain and simple, its design is very Apple-Esque and will suit any aesthetic. It comes in two finishes, carbine, and walnut. The walnut finish is more expensive.

    Key features:

    • • Can charge up to four devices (with additional purchases)
    • • MagSafe certified
    • • 15W Fast-charge capable
    • • Multiple finishes: Carbine or Walnut

    Waitee 3-in-1

If you’re looking for a multi-device MagSafe charger, but you’re on a budget, you’re in luck. The Waitee 3-in-1 wireless charger can charge your iPhone, Air Pods, and Apple Watch, all in one go.

Like the Belkin, the Waitee doubles as a stand where you can place your phone either vertically or horizontally. It’s on the chunkier side too, with thick arms and a rectangular base.

It also comes with a power brick and a USB-C cable.

Unfortunately, this charger isn’t MagSafe certified, so you won’t get any fast-charging capabilities. But it’s still a great budget option for those in need of a multi-device charger for their iPhones.

    Key Features:

    • • Charge output of 7.5W
    • • Comes with a power adaptor
    • • Charges 3 devices

    MagSafe Car Chargers

MagSafe chargers aren’t just for inside your house. You can now buy an array of handy MagSafe chargers for your car. This way, your iPhone can stay charged, even if you’re on the road all day. Thanks to the MagSafe compatibility, these chargers also allow you to mount your phone in a convenient spot for satnav directions and easy access to your music.

Who needs CarPlay when you have one of these MagSafe wireless car chargers?

There’s a Belkin charger for your car too. This small black MagSafe charger slides into your car’s vents, making mounting it quick and easy. But Belkin does highlight that it doesn’t work well with all car vents. It works best with 3mm thick, straight, horizontal vent slats that are about 20mm deep.

You can still use this car charger with vertical vents, but you might find some movement with the bigger, heavier iPhones.

Despite this small bump in the road, this charger is still a great contender. It delivers 20W of power and comes with a handy USB-C cable, (which you can never have enough of).

While it is a Belkin product, this car charger is not MagSafe certified. But, it’s still got sturdy, strong magnets that will snap onto the MagSafe magnets on your iPhone. And thanks to its heavy power delivery, it still outputs more power than other non-certified brands.

    Features:

    • • Not MagSafe certified
    • • Delivers 20W of power
    • • Outputs 10W charging
    • • Color: Black

    Udaily Wireless Car Charger

The Udaily Wireless car charger is perfect for those who want a car charger but unfortunately have vertical air vents. This charger comes with both an air vent mount and a dashboard mount, so you can pick exactly how you want to mount your phone.

Like most third-party devices, the Udaily isn’t MagSafe certified, but its strong magnets will grip your iPhone, so you won’t have to worry. Because of this, it doesn’t support fast charge, only delivering 7.5W of power.

    Portable MagSafe Chargers

In a world where our phones are always with us, and we’re always on the move, we need portable chargers. Luckily, with the advent of MagSafe, there are several portable, wireless chargers on the market, perfect for iPhone users.

    Apple MagSafe Battery Pack

First up in this section is Apple’s very own MagSafe power bank. Or as they call it, battery pack.

This small, tiny little battery pack snaps onto your iPhone perfectly. It’s almost the same size as the iPhone 12 or 13 mini, making it the perfect small accessory. It also fits in perfectly with the rest of the Apple ecosystem.

When plugged in, it doubles as a standard MagSafe charger and can charge your iPhone quickly with its 15W power delivery.

The key features of the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack are:

    • • MagSafe certified
    • • 15w Fast-Charge Capable (when plugged in)
    • • White

    myCHARGE MagLock

    myCHARGE MagLock

The MagLock lineup by myCharge is a great option for those wanting something a little bit more powerful than the Apple MagSafe battery pack. There are three different options to choose from depending on how many milliamp hours you need. You can choose between a 3,000 mAh, a 6,000 mAh, and a 9,000 mAh battery pack.

Its design is slightly different than other MagSafe-compatible power banks. There are raised edges where the power bank connects to the phone. This allows for a slight gap between the devices, which allegedly improves airflow and keeps them both cool.

A major benefit of this charger is that it comes with a power button – something that’s sorely missing from the Apple MagSafe option. A power button allows you to switch the power bank off when you’re not using it, so you can conserve as much power as possible.

It also comes with a USB-C cable and can double up as a MagSafe charging pad when plugged in.

Also has USB ports to charge other devices like a standard portable power bank.

    Key features:

    • • Different capacity choices
    • • Chunky design
    • • Can charger multiple devices (through USB ports)

    Oisle MagSafe Powerbank

If you’re on the hunt for a thin, sleek, and understated MagSafe portable charger, we’ve got the one for you. The Oisle MagSafe power bank is one of the smallest on the market and it won’t break the bank.

Underneath its logo is an LED light that easily notifies you how much battery power you have left. It also has a power button, so you can switch it off when needed.

When it’s connected to a large power adaptor, it doubles up as a wireless charger for your phone.

    Features:

    • • 4,225 mAh capacity
    • • Small and thin
    • • Comes in multiple colors

    Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K

    Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K

The Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K is another great option for most people. While it’s on the thicker and heavier side, it’s still a great contender.

With its 5,000 mAh capacity, you can easily charge your iPhone to 100% without any issues. It also comes with a USB-C charging port that can also be used to charge other devices on the move – like your iPad.

It also has an LED indicator light and a power button, so you never have to wonder where your charge went.

    Features:

    • • 5,000 mAh capacity
    • • Acts as a wireless charger when plugged in
    • • Can charge multiple devices

    Other MagSafe Accessories

MagSafe isn’t just about charging your iPhone. Thanks to these super sturdy, snappy magnets, Apple has released several nifty accessories that make your life better and easier.

There is now an Apple MagSafe wallet that snaps onto the back of your iPhone. Perfect for your cards and some cash. The latest MagSafe wallets now support Find My, so you’ll never lose it and your cards again.

If you’re not needing a car charger, but still want a nifty MagSafe car mount, we’ve got your back. Check out our MagSafe car mount here.

So, what is the best MagSafe charger? Our answer is simple – whichever one suits you. There are several factors to consider when buying these devices, from power output to price and even aesthetic.
